Dartmouth College Pair to Join 2019 NavsLYNN, Mass. -- The North Shore Navigators returned to the Ivy League to add two more players to their 2019 roster, it was announced on Tuesday. Outfielder Kade Kretzschmar and pitcher Trystan Sarcone are slated to become the fourth and fifth-ever players from Dartmouth College to join the Futures Collegiate Baseball League club. Director of Player Procurement Joe Gill announced the signings. Including these two members of the Big Green, a total of 16 players have officially been named to the North Shore roster. “The college season is still very young, but Kade and Trystan have already made a big impact as freshmen at Dartmouth,” said Gill. “We look forward to following the rest of their spring season and know that a whole year of regular Division 1 experience will make them valuable members of our roster.” Kretzschmar started in seven of the Big Green's first eight games, driving in two runs, after coming east from Carlsbad, Calif. The left-handed hitter helped San Marcos High School to three Avocado East League championships and a pair of CIF San Diego Section Division II titles before joining Dartmouth. Kretzschmar led his high school team with 41 hits as a senior, while posting a .376 average, 10 doubles, four home runs, 29 RBI, and 35 RBI. Sarcone began his collegiate career on a high note, earning Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors after pitching three scoreless innings in his Feb. 23 debut at UTSA. He then earned his first collegiate start against Saint Joseph's this past weekend, allowing only one run in four innings. The left-hander from Greenwich, Conn., was undefeated on the mound during his four-year career at the Brunswick School in his hometown, going 18-0 while helping the Bruins to three Fairchester Athletic Association championships. Kretzschmar will become the first-ever Dartmouth position player to suit up for the Navs this summer, but Sarcone is slated to join some elite Big Green company in joining the North Shore roster. The three previous Dartmouth pitchers to appear for the Navs were current Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Michael Johnson (2010-11), current Dartmouth captain Cole O’Connor (2015-16), and former FCBL Pitcher of the Year Austen Michel (2017). Stay tuned as the Navigators will be announcing more additions to the roster in the coming weeks and months in preparation for the 2019 season. The team’s home opener at Fraser Field is slated for Saturday, June 1. |
