LYNN, Mass. -- The North Shore Navigators have added three more players from powerhouse programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference to their roster ahead of the 2023 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) season.

North Shore will welcome two players from Clemson University to the club for the first time since 2011. Leading off the group is outfielder Gavin Abrams, who played in two games as a freshman for the Tigers last spring and has seen more extended time so far in 2023. The native of St. Johns, Fla., has logged three extra-base hits, four RBI and four runs scored while reaching base at a .394 clip in 13 games this season, hitting his first career home run against archrival South Carolina. Abrams spent the summer of 2022 in Virginia playing for the Valley League’s Charlottesville TomSox.

Catcher Jacob Jarrell is set to follow Abrams to the North Shore following his freshman season as a Tiger. He has seen considerable playing time behind the plate as a first-year, appearing in 21 games and posting three doubles, three homers (all in his first nine collegiate outings), 12 RBI and eight runs scored. Jarrell hails from Florence, S.C., native and earned the No. 5 ranking among high school catchers in the state according to Perfect Game.

Becoming the Navs’ second player in as many summers from the University of Tennessee will be infielder Tanner Zellem. The native of Jacksonville, Fla., is spending a redshirt season for the Volunteers before coming to Fraser Field. He arrived in Knoxville after completing his high school career at the Bolles School, where he was named to the All-City First Team.

The Navs kick off their 16th summer of collegiate baseball on Wednesday, June 7 and will host their home opener at a renovated Fraser Field on Friday, June 9. The 2023 season includes 22 home games, as well as the return of the NECBL All-Star Game to Lynn on Sunday, July 23.
