LYNN, Mass. — The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) recognized North Shore Navigators center fielder Kyle Jones as Week 7 Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

A rising sophomore at the University of Florida, Jones hit .454 (10-for-22) with one double, one triple, eight RBI and three runs scored in six games during the week ending on Saturday, July 20. The week-long performance upped his summer totals to a .313 average with 14 RBI and 19 runs scored, all of which are the best marks on the active roster.

Jones finished the past week with a pair of multi-hit games, going 3-for-4 and 4-for-5 during North Shore’s double-digit scoring nights against Martha’s Vineyard and Ocean State last Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. He recorded four RBI in the latter of those games.

Jones arrived to the North Shore as the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year at Stetson and announced his decision to transfer to the Gators just before playing in his first game of the summer late last month. Starting 59 games for the Hatters en route to the conference title, Jones led the team with a .352 average while hitting 14 doubles and three homers, driving in 33 runs, scoring 50 more and stealing 22 bases.

Jones and the Navigators return to action on Tuesday evening when they visit the Mystic Schooners in Groton, Conn., and return home to Fraser Field to host a Wednesday doubleheader against the Upper Valley Nighthawks at 3 p.m.
