LYNN, Mass. -- With just over a month left until summer baseball returns to Fraser Field, three more players from Ohio-based schools have been signed to join the North Shore Navigators for the 2023 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) season.

Ohio State pitcher Jacob Gehring will reunite with Buckeye teammate Henry Kaczmar in Navs Nation this summer. The sophomore right-hander from Canfield, Ohio, has pitched in 16 games out of the bullpen this season, striking out 15 batters in 12 innings of work and posted streaks of three and four consecutive scoreless outings so far. Gehring spent last summer in Wisconsin with the Northwoods League’s Kenosha Kingfish, earning four wins in seven appearances while posting 25 strikeouts across 22 frames.

Tommy O’Connor is set to become the first-ever University of Cincinnati Bearcat to join the Navigators following the completion of his sophomore season. The two-way player has seen action on both sides this season, hitting .273 with three home runs and 11 RBI in 21 games while pitching 15.2 innings and striking out 15. This summer will mark a return to the Northeast for the Indiana native, as he played for the Sag Harbor Whalers of the Hamptons Collegiate League a summer ago.

North Shore is no stranger to having players from the University of Dayton on board, and Jacob Wilson will be the latest when he takes the mound in June. The 6-foot-7 righty from Greenwood, Ind., is in the midst of his freshman year as a Flyer and has worked 5.1 innings across his first four collegiate outings, two of which were against Ohio State. He earned his first start on April 26 against Purdue Fort Wayne.

The Navs kick off their 16th summer of collegiate baseball on Wednesday, June 7 and will host their home opener at a renovated Fraser Field on Friday, June 9. The 2023 season includes 22 home games, as well as the return of the NECBL All-Star Game to Lynn on Sunday, July 23.
