Hunter to Compete in NECBL All-Star Home Run Derby
Binghamton slugger has five homers this summer
LYNN, Mass. — North Shore Navigators outfielder Grant Hunter has been selected to compete in the 2026 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star Game Home Run Derby, the league office announced this week.
The rising Binghamton University junior will join All-Star shortstop Hudson Ellis (Oral Roberts), starting pitcher Gian Gamelli (Notre Dame) and outfielder Hunter Kingsbury (Bryant) at Goodall Park in Sanford, Maine, for the festivities on Sunday, July 26. Hunter will swing in the Derby at 2:30 p.m. before the first pitch of the game at 5:10 p.m.
Hunter has slugged a team-leading five home runs this summer, which are the most by a North Shore player in a single season since 2021. Two of his homers have come in Sanford, with his latest coming last Sunday for his second in as many nights.
He also paces the Navs with 11 extra-base hits after tying a single-game franchise record with three doubles in Thursday's game against Newport, while his 17 runs scored are second on the team.
During the spring, Hunter tied for the Binghamton team lead with seven homers.
