Hudson Ellis Named NECBL Player of the Week
Shortstop went 8-for-14 during North Shore's 4-2 stretch
LYNN, Mass. — The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) has recognized North Shore Navigators shortstop Hudson Ellis as the Week 3 Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
The rising Oral Roberts University sophomore hit .571 (8-for-14) with four doubles, one triple, five RBI, nine runs scored and four stolen bases across his last five games, helping North Shore go 4-2 overall and post its longest winning streak since returning to the NECBL in 2021.
As a result of his stellar week-long performance, Ellis now leads the NECBL with a .455 average and a 1.333 OPS for the season. He has scored a Navs team-high nine runs and also co-leads the lineup with five extra-base hits and five stolen bases.
The week for Ellis began with three straight multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 showing in last Monday's come-from-behind win at Newport. Against the Gulls, he finished a home run shy of the cycle, scored three runs and drove in the go-ahead run during North Shore's eighth-inning rally.
He also had two RBI to help the Navs beat the Vermont Mountaineers on Tuesday before going 2-for-2 with four runs scored on Wednesday against the Danbury Westerners.
Ellis, who was an All-Summit League performer for Oral Roberts during the spring, is the first Navigator to win an NECBL weekly honor since South Hamilton native Will Jones (Northeastern) was named Pitcher of the Week on July 29, 2024.
Ellis and the Navs return to action on Wednesday at the Upper Valley Nighthawks, and their next home game is at 6:05 p.m. Friday against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks. Stay up to date on the latest Navs news by visiting nsnavs.com and following the team on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
