Home Runs Galore for Future Navs
College Baseball Report #5
Below is the fifth Navs College Baseball Report of the 2026 season. Weekly installments will be posted by Tuesday throughout the spring.
LYNN, Mass. — Here are the latest college baseball highlights for incoming North Shore Navigators players:
Hofstra's Michael Brown began his week with a perfect 4-for-4 game, hitting his first two career home runs and driving in six last Wednesday against Rider. The leadoff-hitting shortstop for the Pride, Brown blasted a solo home run to right-center field in his first at-bat and then smacked another ball out of the park for a three-run shot a couple innings later. He didn't takwe his foot off the pedal against Monmouth on Sunday, going 3-for-4 and scoring twice.
On the opposite side of that CAA matchup, Monmouth infielder Simmi Whitehill had a three-hit, three-RBI game as the Hawks took the series on Sunday. He opened and closed the run production in a 19-9, run-rule win after reaching base in three other games last week as well, including tying the game with his third home run of the season on Wednesday against FDU.
It was another week, another statement made by High Point's Lane Allen. He collected five hits, four RBI, walked four times, and hit a pair of home runs -- both of which came in the same game, a Friday loss to Big South rival USC Upstate.
Brown, Whitehill and Allen weren't the only Navigators to go yard this week. Bowling Green outfielder Pauly Mancino hit his first homer of the season, breaking a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game at Dayton. He also scored an additional run. Returning Harvard shortstop Jack Rickheim went yard to open the scoring in the first inning of the Crimson's Saturday game at Cal Baptist. The following day, he extended his hitting streak to five consecutive games with a double.
Binghamton outfielder Grant Hunter began last week's action with a three-run blast to open the scoring in a 15-9 Tuesday win over St. Bonaventure. He has produced all nine of his RBI over the last 10 games, is tied for second among to-be Navs in home runs, and remains perfect defensively.
For Bryant, Governor's Academy product Hunter Kingsbury returned to action last week and was his usual impactful self, with a pair of base hits while driving in a run in all three of the Bulldogs' games against Binghamton. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in a Saturday victory.
Peabody native Danati Fronduto has been the biggest power threat on the incoming North Shore roster all season, and he continued that trend with two more extra-base hits for San Jacinto last weekend against Galveston College. He went 4-for-8 with two RBI and four more runs scored during a Saturday doubleheader.
Another North Shore veteran who had a strong midweek performance was Seton Hall catcher Aidan Sengenberger, who went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win for the Pirates over NJIT. He then reached base in all three games of a weekend series against Brown, recording a hit and an RBI in back-to-back games before driving in a run on Sunday.
In the Big Ten, North Andover native Robert Brown (Penn State) pitched twice in relief last week, making a 1.1-inning scoreless appearance with two strikeouts on Saturday against Iowa. Fellow freshman Justin Fryer (Northwestern) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings across his two outings, recording a strikeout in Tuesday's tie against UIC and then helping the Wildcats hand No. 25 USC its first loss of the season on Saturday.
The theme of strong bullpen work continued with Lynn's own Josh Doney pitching scoreless ball twice more during UMass Lowell's California trip. The St. Mary's grad put together his second straight multi-inning appearance last Tuesday at Sacramento State, striking out two over two hitless and scoreless innings. Doney also pitched two-thirds of a frame on Saturday against Pepperdine.
Second-year Navigator Cole Yennaco continued to provide Merrimack with effective relief in two more recent games, pitching scoreless innings against Army West Point and Iona. He earned his third save of the season in the latter game on Saturday, pitching a 1-2-3 inning to close out a 7-4 win and ensure the Warriors' second straight MAAC series win.
With the Division 3 season now kicking off in full effect, infielder Conor Moriarty has hit safely in three of his last four games for Bowdoin. The returning Navigator recorded his first RBI of the season in a win over Benedictine last Wednesday, and on Saturday against Hartford, he reached base twice and swiped a base.
The Navigators will return to historic Fraser Field and the NECBL for their 19th summer season in 2026, with first pitch set for Friday, June 5. Stay up to date on the latest Navs news by visiting nsnavs.com and following the team on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
