Mainers Slug Past Navs Monday

SANFORD, Maine (July 7, 2025) 一 The North Shore Navigators took their third straight loss, falling to the Sanford Mainers 13-1 in the second half of a home-and-home series between the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s North Division rivals on Monday night at Goodall Park.

North Shore fell to 9-17, while Sanford is 12-13 following its fourth win in a row.

Right fielder Sam Parks (Stonehill) went 1-for-3 with the lone RBI single for the Navs.

A seven-run first inning provided more than enough offense for Sanford. Shortstop Trey King’s (Georgia) two-out, two-run single punctuated the frame, which included six of the Mainers’ 13 total hits.

The Navs scored their run in the second. After designated hitter Aidan Sengenberger (Seton Hall) drew a leadoff walk and advanced on second baseman Conor Moriarty’s (Bowdoin) groundout, he scored when Parks lined a two-out single to center.

Sanford tallied twice in the third, once in each of the following three innings and the eighth to add to its lead.

North Shore relievers Gus Magill (Cornell) and Stefano Yozzo (Middlebury) both worked multiple innings without allowing an earned run. In between, Cole Yennaco (Merrimack) limited Sanford’s fourth-inning damage to one run as he struck out the side for a second consecutive outing.

Colin Dowdle (Holy Cross) put a zero on the scoreboard in the seventh, working out of a bases-loaded jam with two pop flies. It was his third scoreless outing in four appearances.

Though the Mainers added their final run in the eighth, left fielder Jesse Jaconski (Penn State) made a highlight play for the Navs’ defense with a relay throw to catcher Aukai Kea (Vanderbilt) to nab King at home plate on an attempted sacrifice fly.

King and right fielder Luke Jenkins (UNC Greensboro) both went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Joshua Kopetski (Rhode Island) pitched three scoreless, one-hit innings to earn the win in relief.

The Navs return to Fraser Field for three more divisional games over the next two days, hosting the North Adams SteepleCats at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday and the Upper Valley Nighthawks for a 4:05 p.m. Wednesday doubleheader.
