BRISTOL, Conn. 一 The North Shore Navigators were rude visitors on the 110th birthday of historic Muzzy Field, putting up three separate crooked numbers and 12 total hits en route to a 11-8 win over the Bristol Blues in Monday’s New England Collegiate Baseball League action.

North Shore curbed its five-game losing streak and improved to 10-14 on the summer, while Bristol fell to 12-14 as it was unable to complete a sweep of the two-game season series.

Center fielder Kyle Jones (Florida) enjoyed one of the best days for a Navs batter all summer, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and a season-high five RBI from the leadoff spot in the order. Jones contributed two-RBI singles to North Shore’s six-run sixth inning and three-run seventh, which combined for nine of the team’s 11 runs.

Designated hitter Brady Dever (Brown), shortstop Danny MacDougall (Endicott) and second baseman Tim McGuire (Sacred Heart) also posted multiple hits. Danny MacDougall was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. McGuire recorded his first double of the season.

After Bristol jumped back into the lead at 3-2 on catcher Billy Sullivan’s (Fairfield) two-run single with one out in the fifth, the Navs turned around and sent 11 to the plate to score six runs against four different pitchers in the top of the sixth. 

North Shore’s big inning began with right fielder Jesse Jaconski (Penn State) drawing a leadoff walk and first baseman Isaac Kim (UC Santa Barbara) knocking a base hit that ended the night of Bristol starter Brett Seils (Towson). After a walk to third baseman Pat D’Amico (Seton Hall) loaded the bases, Dever and Danny MacDougall knocked back-to-back run-scoring singles to tie the game. 

Ryan MacDougall’s RBI grounder put North Shore back in front at 5-4, then Jones extended the score with a two-run single up the middle. Jaconski continued the scoring two batters later with an RBI ground-rule double that dropped on the warning track in left-center field.

North Shore’s defense came to play in working reliever Justin Posnik (Bentley) through a 1-2-3  inning, as Kim made a diving stop to retire Greger for the first out before Danny MacDougall lept at shortstop to snare first baseman Cal Parrillo’s (Stony Brook) high line drive.

After posting the zero, the Navs’ offense put up a trio of two-out runs in the seventh to provide necessary insurance. The MacDougall duo walked and singled to begin the threat, and McGuire ripped an RBI double to center. Jones capped his outstanding night by stinging another two-run single into center.

Jack Volo (Georgetown) posted the final two outs of the fifth inning to record the win in relief. After Bristol put up three runs in the eighth, Swampscott native Pierce Friedman (Stonehill) struck out the first two batters he faced in a scoreless ninth for his first save. For Friedman, it was his third outing of the summer with multiple punchouts.

After Navs starter Josh Lajoie (Lipscomb) escaped the first with the help of Danny MacDougall starting a 6-4-3 double play, Bristol manufactured the leading run on right fielder Gavin Greger’s (Bryant) fielder’s choice in the second.

North Shore flipped the score with a pair of third-inning runs to take its first lead in two games. MacDougall beat out a leadoff infield single to spark the rally. After Ryan MacDougall walked, McGuire squibbed a single into the shallow outfield to load the bases. Jones and left fielder Alex Luccini (UMass Lowell) followed with productive outs to make it a 2-1 game.

Left fielder MIka Petersen (Brown) went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored for Bristol. Chad Fedeli (Southern Connecticut) took the loss.

The Navs are set for a quick turnaround to their next game on Tuesday, returning to Coastal Division play against the Newport Gulls at 11:05 a.m. from Fraser Field.
