LYNN, Mass. (June 14, 2025) 一 The Valley Blue Sox defeated the North Shore Navigators 6-1 in Saturday night’s New England Collegiate Baseball League game at Fraser Field.
North Shore slipped to 3-7, while Valley improved to 5-3.
Third baseman Simmi Whitehill (Monmouth) went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base, while right fielder Ethan Wilson (Winthrop) recorded an RBI single to lead the Navigator offense.
Trey Yesu (Bridgewater State) delivered a solid second start of the summer for North Shore, striking out a season-high seven across five innings of two-run ball.
Valley wasted little time jumping on the scoreboard as left fielder Sebastian Mexico (Louisiana Tech) sparked a two-run first inning with a solo home run out to right. The offense restarted with two outs when third baseman Michael O’Conor (Eastern Illinois) lined a run-scoring double into the right-center gap.
The Navs made it a 2-1 game in the fifth. After Whitehill knocked a one-out double inside third base, second baseman Conor Moriarty’s (Bowdoin) infield groundout advanced him to third. Whitehill scored the North Shore run on Wilson’s RBI single to shortstop.
However, the visitors extended their lead with four runs in the sixth, including right fielder Clay Burdette’s (Xavier) two-out, two-run double into the left-field corner.
Three North Shore relievers provided strong relief at the end of the game, as Sean Zaslaw (Bryant), Joseph Hauser (Northeastern) and John Milewski (Lafayette) each posted a scoreless inning. Zaslaw worked around a hit and a walk to strike out the side in his Navigators debut.
The Navs play the second game of their weekend homestand on Sunday afternoon against the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. from Fraser Field.
